It’s all over

Whew! I am so glad that’s over with.

Here’s the details. Marc and I got to the hospital around 8:30am and checked in. They took me upstairs to pre-op around 9 and took my vitals, I changed into a gown and they started an IV. THen I waited. And waited. I was scheduled for 10am. Well, 10am came and went. Finally my Dr came in around 10:30 and chatted with me and told me that it would be a 15-20 minute procedure and that he would do as little as possible to ensure I didn’t have a lot of bleeding or pain afterwards. So they took me back to the operating room around 10:45. By this point I was extremely nervous and wanted drugs! They gave me a sedative which helped a little but not enough. The OR was smaller than I expected with the 3 big lights over the table and a computer screen. THey had me scooch over to the table which was hard but covered with a padded blanket so at least it wasn’t cold. THen the anesthesiologist came in and it happened to be the same one who had given me the epidural. As I was telling him that I guess they gave me the drugs b/c the next thing I remember I was waking up in recovery. After getting my bearings I noticed that I had some cramping but it wasn’t bad. they gave me something to help with the pain and I just laid there for about 45 minutes until they took me back to the pre-op room to sit in a recliner. They let Marc come in then and see me. THey gave me some apple juice and let me go to the bathroom. Marc said the Dr had come to talk to him and said everything went well, the actual procedure was 11 minutes. He found some “abnormal” cells in my uterus that were causing the bleeding. He said its nothing bad so not to worry but he removed them. After about half an hour of sitting up I they took out my IV and let me get dressed and called for the wheelchair to take me downstairs so I could leave! We left around 1:30. I felt groggy and crampy the rest of the day and really just rested and took it easy. I took 2 Tylenol PM before bed so that I would be sure to sleep and I needed it. Alexis stayed with my mom in her room so that I could really sleep and not have to keep myself half-aware for a crying baby like I usually do!

Today, so far so good. I’m still tired and a little foggy but I”m feeling good, no pain and very little bleeding. I’m hoping this saga is now over and I have no more bleeding!

That doesn’t sound too awful. I’m glad you have your Mom so close to help out. That must take a huge weight off your mind.

Stay resting and take good care of yourself. Hopefully things will be back to normal for you soon!
